The Women’s Center

The Women’s Center assists women experiencing major transitions, with a focus especially on displaced homemakers – women who are separated, divorced, widowed, or living with a disabled spouse or partner. These women, who often experience sudden economic distress, can come to the JFS Women’s Center which can open the door to the services they need. Women, who may unexpectedly find themselves in financial crises due to a life-changing event or situation, can fall into poverty abruptly. The sudden loss of a loved one can place a woman in dire economic straits that she has never before encountered. By offering career, emergency services, food from the JFS Food Pantry and workshops that address relevant issues, the Women’s Center is there to help. For more information, call 732-777-1940 or email [email protected].

Located in a warm, confidential setting, women who have gone through life altering transitions meet other women who have experienced similar changes. Together they are able to appreciate how the JFS Women’s Center works, helping each participant gain personal and economic self-sufficiency. The center’s commitment and focus to help women reach their goals is achieved through job readiness training, education, networking, outreach and referrals to other agency services when needed.

Free services include educational counseling, career planning, and assessment, job readiness/job search training, life skills workshops, financial management along with computer classes, resume’ writing and more.
